How much do signs and other forms of signage cost?
With signs and signage, there are naturally a wide variety of products and options that will affect pricing. All projects are quoted up front so there are no surprises and we are always happy to offer you options to meet your budget.
How long will my sign last?
The life of your signage is dependent on a variety of factors: materials chosen, location and use, weather, etc. Based on the intended use, we will suggest materials to fit your unique purpose.
Less expensive materials will be used for short term signage, while durable materials would be used for signage requiring extended time frames.
Does my sign include frame, posts, and brackets for mounting?
No, mounting accessories are additional. We can help you choose what is best for your particular sign.
What is the typical turnaround time?
Turnaround time will greatly vary dependent on the type of project and materials being used.
On average, typical turnaround time can be from 2 to 5 days for banners, vinyl graphics, and business cards.
Large format printing and sign production can take longer depending on the project requirements.
Where can vinyl graphics be installed?
Vinyl graphics can be installed on almost any smooth and wax-free surface, including glass, plexiglass, painted surfaces, fiberglass, and some plastics.
How do I know if I’m going to like the design or even the finished product?
Clients are never surprised with the final product because we provide a full color proof of what it will look like before anything goes to final production. Before any production is started, we require your approval of the artwork, colors, spelling, and layout.
Once you are satisfied, we begin producing your sign. This way, we’re both clear on what we’re producing.
What format must artwork be submitted in?
We prefer artwork to be submitted as a Vector File (.eps, .ai, and in some cases .pdf).
For those who have had a logo or graphic professionally designed, you should have a vector art file provided from the designer in either .ai (Adobe Illustrator) or .eps (Encapsulated PostScript) format.
Otherwise, we can digitize (or Vectorize) the artwork you provide us in a JPEG, TIFF, PSD, GIF, etc. at an additional charge. For vectorizing purposes, please be sure that artwork is sent as a “high resolution” file.
How do I submit artwork?
Artwork may be submitted via email at info@signswithdesign.net.
For artwork too large to email, please submit via CD, DVD, USB flash drive, or Cloud Storage System (Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, etc.).
What is the difference between vector and bitmap images and which is better?
Vector (.ai, .eps, .pdf) and bitmap (.jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .tif, .psd) images are the two major graphic types. Both image types are made up of many individual objects; however, they respond vastly different when enlarged and/or reduced to produce different image sizes.
While we can use both types of files, we prefer vector files as we can change sizes easily without sacrificing quality. Vector images can be output at the highest quality in any scale because they are made of lines and panels rather than pixels or dots. Vector images are resolution independent and in most cases result in higher quality prints.
What is DPI?
DPI (Dots Per Inch) is the standard of measurement for the resolution of images that describes the number of dots per inch (DPI) that are used to create an image. The higher the DPI, the higher the resolution which translates to better quality of your final product.
For print quality, we recommend all bitmap images that are created at full scale (1:1 ratio) be submitted at 150 DPI or higher. All proportionally scaled (ex 1:12 ratio) bitmap images should be submitted at 300 DPI. An example of a proportionally scaled image would be artwork submitted at 2″ x 2″ with the intent to print at 2′ x 2′ (24″ x 24″).
